Summer Reading 2024 is here!

We believe it's important to balance leisure and relaxation with ongoing intellectual development during the summer. Our aim is to inspire intellectual curiosity while encouraging students to incorporate recreational reading into their summer activities.

For the summer of 2024, all students are required to read the All School Read and at least two additional books. Students will have the choice between two selected titles for the All School Read. The other two books may be the required reading for the KEC program or Honors US History, or a selection of their choice. Please click “Browse Suggested Titles” in the menu for an extensive list of suggested titles by genre.

The summer reading program is a collaborative effort between the English department and other departments. We have included a reading guide to assist students, featuring tips on how to read a poem and understand satire. This resource exemplifies the process-oriented writing and openness to feedback and revision that the English Department encourages in all its students.

We encourage parents to join students in reading and discussing the books on the reading list.  And, of course, we hope students read far beyond the minimum, whether they selected titles from the accompanying list or choose books on their own, to meet our new reading challenge.

Sincerely,

Andrew Mellon Library Team
